Rest in Peace

It's been another week since I've posted. You guys must be getting sick of me. I guess I should wish you all a very belated Merry Christmas. I wish that this year I could have filled this space with the happy greetings and delighted posts that I was able to last year around this time. This year, however, was much different...

Three days before Christmas I received a call from my mother at 8:00 in the morning before work. She was crying, but she managed to tell me that a close friend from back home had died suddenly. Mike Blanchette was a dear friend whom I have known since the fifth grade. He was close to many of us, and he will be missed more than words can say.

So needless to say, this Christmas was the worst in my life. I wish that I had better things to pass on to you all. Please keep Mike's family and girlfriend in your prayers. It will not be easy to move on without him.

Wendy's - My Love/Hate Relationship

Turns out you all might get to hear about what I've been so secretive about much earlier than I originally thought. Big day is tomorow, the 21st. Let's leave it at that for now. Hopefully you'll have the news by the new year..... enough about that.

So we went to Wendy's tonight... yuuuummm-O. I love Wendy's burgers. I like fast food in general.... (sorry Bathroom Reading, who is a strictly kosher eater...) But as much as I love Wendy's, I hate eating inside. I feel like I'm back in kindergarten with those tiny-ass chairs and tables. Nik and I are both tall with very long legs, so when we sit at those things we feel like we're in each others' laps... (Which is nice if you're not busy trying to consume large amounts of fat and grease... but since we ARE trying to eat, it bugs me.)

Those trays are like the size of my little toe... I guess it makes it look like you've got more food, but our food hardly ever even fits on it.

Also, I noticed something in there that I knew, immediately, that I would have to let you all in on. (You know these moments in everyday life when you stop and say to yourself - I MUST BLOG ABOUT THIS LATER.) So I noticed that LITERALLY the last three times I've been to Wendy's (in different towns, mind you) one thing has occurred each time in all three places.

There are two ketchup dispensers. Two very large, ketchup-containing containers (heh).... and each time... I always try to get my ketchup out of the one to the right... and it's ALWAYS empty. When I go to the one on the left, it's always full and I am able to fill up at this station. Perhaps everyone attempts the right-hand side first. Strange..... also useless. But still interesting.

Congratulations... you've wasted another 45 seconds of your life reading meaningless crap..... my meaningless crap. :)

6 Days Till Christmas!?!?!?

I can't even believe that Christmas is almost here. Before we know it, the whole holiday season will be over and gone. This is my favorite time of year, as evidenced by my December 2004 archives. This year I've had less time for anticipation - classes ended later, and I'm working full time over my Christmas Break. (40 hours a week = equals sweeeeeeeet $$$$)

There are lots of possible new changes that could occur over the next couple of weeks - I am not at liberty to discuss, but be rest assured that as soon as (or if) anything happens, you all will be informed. Let's just say that the future is starting to unfold before my eyes, and I am thrilled. (P.S. - Let's make things clear... this is not in reference to a ring, which many friends have been inquiring about for like two years now... this is about something much, much different. Oh... and not a baby either. Yet. Hopefully.)

So now that you know what it ISN'T.... Hee hee. On that note, I have to get back to work. Gosh, I even spend my lunch break with you fools. Much love! ^_^

Cookie Recipe

I sooooo wish I could take credit for this..... but it's funny, and my brother emailed it to me. If I know you all AT ALL, I'm pretty sure you'll love this.

Christmas Cookies

Christmas Cookie Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila

Directions:
*Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
*Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again. (To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.)
*Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
*Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again.
*At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK. Try another cup ... just in case.
*Turn off the mixerer thingy.
*Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
*Pick the frigging fruit off floor...
*Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
*Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
*Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Check the Jose Cuervo.
*Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
*Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
*Greash the oven.
*Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
*Don't forget to beat off the turner.
*Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Santa. Pleaaaaaase???

Last year, around this time, I posted with a similar request regarding a puppy that I wanted for Christmas. This year is no different, however my demands are much more specific. A pug. I want one soooooo much!!! Okay. Now that that's out of my system, I can go Christmas shopping.

P.S. Of course, he/she will need one of these to wear. ^_^

P.P.S. Okay. I'm really done now.

HALF NEKKID THURSDAY ^_^

p.s. You can see the reflection of me in my eye. Weirdness. And you can also see that I have a spot of brown in those baby blues.

The View From Where I Sit

Errr... this week has been the last week of classes. Next week is finals week. This means, of course, that everything is due this week as well as next week. This means that what you see in this photo is pretty much what I will be seeing in front of my face for the next week. Laptop, with essay up on the screen; open book for reference; and cup of warm beverage. Beverage usually consists of one of the following:

* hot apple cider

*hot chocolate (knowing what I still have due, I'm thinking the bottle of Bailey's is looking mighty good for this one)

*if I'm feeling really in need of a boost, I'll treat myself to a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks

I'm very much looking forward to next Thursday. By then all assignments will be in, all essays written, all finals failed... (kidding). Someone save me.

Man of the House

This, like the Capri Suns below, is not a staged photo. This all began when Lindsay announced that she needed to iron her dress clothes for her job fair in NYC. When Nik saw her confusion with the iron, he offered (jokingly.. sorta) that he could do it for her. Being that it was Lindsay, she of course zeroed into this comment and told him that he could iron them for her. And so, he began to iron her pants.

Lindsay, downstairs in the living room, messaged Colleen (pictured to the right, in pink), who was up on the third floor of the house, and told her that Nik was doing her ironing. No less than 45 seconds later, Colleen was downstairs with her pants she had been intending to iron for her presentation the next day. She hadn't gotten around to it, and Nik's ironing pile had grown by an extra pair of khakis. ^_^

*Ironing tally*

1 pair of black pants, 1 dress shirt
1 pair of khaki pants

This information may cause many questions to arise amongst you... first of all... why didn't I give him any of my clothes to iron while he was at it?? Good question. I have no idea. Another question: why is he ironing on the dining room table? If you ever tried to iron on our ironing board, you'd understand.

A "special" Capri Sun

When Lindsay opened a box of those delicious Capri Sun juice drinks this evening, (you know the ones - a silvery, opaque pouch in order to save money on artificial coloring) she had no idea that she was about to encounter the most well-endowed juice drink EVER.

Take a look at this picture. Please be aware that this is exactly how the drink came out of the box. I wonder if we won a prize.... This is no ordinary juice drink. He's special, and we're not drinking him. We're gonna put him on display. We're fans of excess. :)

And..... more Toblerone

That week was a busy one. Sorry about the lack of post-age (no stamps? hmmm) from this past week. Speaking of postage, I finally got my Toblerone in the mail from Bathroom Reading! Yay for that nougat-y goodness... *wink* Thanks so much!! You are too awesome.

The other day I was at BJ's Wholesale for some groceries and I just so happened to wander into the candy section. Oh. Wow. That's a LOT of candy, peeps. (Hee hee - get it? Candy? Peeps? Awww never mind... Moocow will understand.) So anyway, I was in candy heaven. And what to my wondring eyes did appear?? Toblerone... That's right. Who knew you could find that here?? Of course, you'd have to buy enough to stock up your own candy store in order to get any, but I may have to consider it.
